This short jacket is designed with the image of a jacket worn by coal miners in the early 1900s as its inspiration. It features
an original duck canvas fabric with uneven open-end yarn in the warp and cotton-hemp yarn in the weft. While possessing the rugged look of vintage duck canvas, it's surprisingly lightweight and breathable. The front has a simple design with a
single pocket on the left. Tucks are added to both the front and back to create an overall rounded silhouette. The neckline is slightly lower in the front, reminiscent of jackets from that era, and features a small collar and smaller-than-usual tuck buttons. Side
slits and a slide buckle on the waistband allow for adjustment of the waist silhouette.
This jacket blends details from American and European workwear.
A version in 11.5oz selvedge denim with nep yarn in the weft is also available on a separate page.
